CIIT Computational Cluster Research Project (CCCRP)

High-performance computing clusters have gained the attention of researchers, scientists, and analysts since the release of the first parallel computing environment, Parallel Virtual Machine (PVM). Today, Computing Clusters are changing the economics of High performance Computing, offering opportunities to those interested in building HPC solutions. The CCCRP is an effort to provide researchers with a facility that allows them to study the dynamics of cluster based computing and to carry out software development projects in the area of parallel computing.

The project was aimed at setting up a modest (40-50 GFLOPS/sec) computing cluster using commodity-of- the-shelf (COTS) components. For this purpose, normal COTS components were purchased, in-house assembled and connected.
