Illuminous Professor Passed Away

Professor Dr. Qamaruddin Khan Ghori, normally known as Dr. Q. K. Ghori among his friends and academic circle, an internationally renowned Professor of Mathematics, has passed away on May 17, 2009. Born in 1932, Dr. Ghori started his academic career in 1952 as a lecturer and later earned his PhD degree from University of British Columbia, Vancouver Canada in 1960. |

He served the educational institutions at national and international level in various capacities as Professor, Dean, Chairman, Pro-Rector, etc. for more than 55 years. He was one of the founding members of Quaid-e-Azam University (1966-1975). Currently, he was Advisor at Department of Mathematic at COMSATS Institution of Information Technology, Islamabad since 2000.
Dr. Ghori was known for his expertise in the areas of Applied Mathematics, Mechanics and Mathematical Modeling and was an integral part of the globally known Mathematical Associations and Societies. He was also a Fellow of Pakistan Academy of Sciences for last 35 years.
His Nimaz-e-Janaza will be offered on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at H-11 Graveyard, Islamabad at 08:00 PM.
